Candles have been used for more natural lighting in ritual work as well as focal points and concentration aids for centuries. Each different color has a different meaning for both internal and external uses. Here are a list of uses put together by Charles Butler.

Green ~equals abundance, fertility, good luck and harmony.
Blue ~is the color of healing, truth, inspiration, higher wisdom, occult power and psychic protection, understanding, good health and the feminine principle in Nature.
Black ~Absorption and destruction of negative energy. Represents the still of the night, the deep cold and tranquil waters, the deepest recesses of the unconscious mind. Good for banishing rituals. As a black candle burns it releases whatever energies you have placed into it, when you charged it.
Purple~ symbolizes success in financial affairs, psychic ability of a highly-developed form, idealism and spiritual power.
Silver~ represents clairvoyance, astral energies and channeling, also the faculty of far memory and remembering past lives.

White can be used for any purpose you give the candles your personal vibrations then You can also use an essential oil on the candle to anoint it for that special need. Remember the color white reflects, the color black absorbs~
